MK I PBR Alongside USS Garrett County after damage in a firefight. MK I PBR Being hauled aboard MK I PBR Almost out of the water

From LCDR (Ret.) Dick Godbehere: Came across the photo site. The series of photo's, [above] shows two photo's of a PBR being hauled aboard an LST. I am certain it is PBR 28 that I was on 9 Nov 67. It was sunk by recoiless rifle or a B-40 rocket fire. It was hit on the port side by the waterline in the forward part of the engine. The firefight occured behind Tan Dinh Island by the Catholic church. Three of us were wounded that day and Captain Ken Hunter a US Army artillery advisor assigned to a vietnamese artillery battery at Tra On was killed by a bullet through his right temple. All aboard the PBR had to swim in the water under fire until rescued by the cover boat. The wounded were medivaced out by the USAF helicopter PEDRO. Hope this helps. Aloha, Dick Godbehere LCDR, USN, Retired.
