Front gate Advance Tactical Support Base Ben Keo 1970 Vam Co Dong River. Tay Ninh Province. Built with Genuine Stolen Parts. Smitty, Ralph, Thiel On watch at Front gate. Puppy base mascot dubbed Case and A-Half; cost us a case and a half of sea rats. Mortar pit and ammunition bunker. We kept our 60's and 81mm busy nightly. Unloading fuel for boats, center of base.

Look-out tower, complete with radio, 60's and starlight scope. command bunker underneath. Base deuce and a half. Galley barge on left. American berthing on right. Ben Keo, the village, outside of base. Ben Keo was attacked three times in the summer 1970, killing two VC sapper swimmers. We turned base over in October of 1970. I returned in October of 2000. Base, loading dock for rice. Village still there. YRBM 21 repair and berthing non-propelled vesel. Upper Mekong River. Mouth of Grand Canal, two miles to Cambodian border. An Long Village.

LCM with 21. Two seawolves on deck. OD shack to left. Seawolf, alarm went off when US in trouble. Five engineering R/L Church, Walzak, Ralph, Rick and Starke. Church and Rick modified engines. Best mechanics I ever knew. Two of 21's boats with two Boatswain Mates.
