When I Found Out I Was Going To Vietnam...

Some people I don't understand
Why are they cruel when I offer a hand
They say I'm wrong to offer my life
To keep our freedom, our way of life

They say I'm crazy and a stupid fool
To offer my life for people like you
But you like so many are dear to me
So why can't these people let me be.

I'm not afraid to die if need be
If my dying means keeping you free
But don't misunderstand and think me a fool
I value my life but more I value you.

This story was contributed by: Leon Tiggeman, River Division 593.
