| Name: Billy Moore | 2/17/08 | Location: Mt. Olive, AL | The years others knew as youth,
we spent learning the meaning of death.
The times others spent learning to love,
we passed hoping to live through endless nights.
The moments others remember as laughs in classrooms,
we remember as terror in the jungle.
The instants of pleasure taken for granted by others,
we remember as forgotten hopes, ____ long ago
crushed by the reality of war.
The unfulfilled dreams of others are yet to be thought
by us since we are in search of our elusive youth,
hoping for years lost in combat,
which are no more - and never will be.

Question??? Do you have any plans for next May????
RFTW XX dates May 14 to May 25, 2008
The 20th Run for the Wall, (RFTW) is planned for May14 25th 2008, from LA to DC, with voluntary participation in Rolling Thunder XXI.
A group of Seawolves rides with RFTW. We would like to plan a Seawolves Run for the Run for the Wall. A group of us will depart New England on or about May 1st, 2008 along the northern route for Northern CA. Then turn south down the coast to LA.
We plan a slow easy ride across country picking up riders along the way to participate in the RFTW. We would plan to arrive in LA on about May 11th to permit servicing of the Bikes and rest before RFTW.
Preliminary route would be across I-80 with stops and interesting diversions along the way, ending up in Northern CA, to link up with riders from the Northwest, WA, OR, ID, AK, etc.
We would plan to stop & visit with fellow brown water vets along the way and divert to any locations of interest, hopefully picking up riders to ride along, either for a while or all the way.
Anyone interested in riding along is welcome, 2-3 or 4 wheelers. Anyone interested in driving in support would be most welcome. We could probably arrange a truck/van and trailer, or just a trailer. (One of our Seawolf riders has a trailer capable of a 2500 lb load or 2-3 bikes).
Wouldnt it be nice to have a significant Gamewarden participation in RFTW?
We would use the same general rules as RFTW, and are planning to do the Southern Route.
Anyone interested, please advise.
Anyone with suggestions for places to see and stay along the way, please advise.
Thanks For more info on RFTW, please see
http://www.rftw.org/ (Run for the Wall Website) and http://www.rftwsr-2007.us/ (Run for the Wall Southern Route Website)
Thanks, Anyone interested, please contact me.

| Name: Butch Jarvinen(5DaysEcho) | 10/4/07 | Location: Eugene, OR | Hi all, A few years ago I posted a note asking if there were any PBR sailors out there that wanted a true story about the PBR sailors be told.
Well, 5years of searching, and finding, fellow sailors that could help me put it all together, has resulted in a full length movie script.
When I returned from this summer's cross country trip, I hired a writer to help me write the treatment (that's the part you sell to a producer). It's on MY desk (computer) now, just doing some final polishing.
I did receive a lot of stories from riverine sailors. So many pages from our lives on the rivers were identical -so I have represented our lives on the rivers using true tidbits from several sailors.
I have two more families to talk to, then I will have talked to someone in each family of the KIAs in RivDiv535. I have respected their wishes as to how their next of kin will be portrayed in the movie.
I have been in a continuous fight with the VA to get and keep my benifits or get follow up exams for the AO related spots on my thyroid, or for the continuous headaches. It's OK for right now, I have to finish OUR movie treatment before I want to deal with the VA again.
I want to thank everyone that encouraged me to write and tell this story. My daughter asked me a simple question; "were you on the swift boats in Vietnam?" It has taken me 6 years to answer her question.
WE WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN |

For a while I was the 'boat driver' that ran the 876 boat when we were the ferry where the bridge was blown on the south fork of the river near Hoi An. We and the Marines that were our security there called it Dodge City for obvious reasons.
I am almost finished writing a book about the three tours on the rivers and would appreciate ANY pictures anyone could provide of the 8-Boats and the areas I mentioned above.
You guys did one fantastic job when we were staioned with you (snappy salute sent your way).

| Name: Joseph R. Headrick | 5/26/04 | Location: Littleton, CO | I'm looking for shipmates who can substantiate my presence on the USS Benewah (APB-35), during the period of 15JUN70 and 15JUL70. The Benewah was near the Cambodian border during that time on the Mekong River. I was on a 1st Class Midshipman "Training Cruise" and was inadvertantly assigned to the Benewah (who the Navy thought was at Vung Tau at that time of the issue of the orders). I need to find proff (ships logs, etc ), to prove to the VA that I was in country Viet Nam then. I am dying from diabetes and really need the disability (which the VA has denied for 2 1/2 years so far).
I'm sending all men who served in TF116 a warm hello. Send me a hello and I'll send one back in your direction. Good luck to all Viet Vets everywhere. Bob |
